Hearing Aids are usually the first line treatment for most people with hearing loss.

Hearing aids can make a big difference to a persons quality of life.

Most people gain a significant amount of benefit from their hearing aids.

For many people their hearing aids are trouble free and easy to look after.

HOWEVER some people just can not get on with their hearing aids for a number of reasons:

Recurrent ear infections
The mould can irritate the ear canal lining leading to ear canal infections. If someone has an ear drum perforation(a hole) or a mastoid cavity then closing off the ear canal opening with a mould can cause ear infections.

Feedback
If the mould does not fit properly then the hearing aid can start making a loud whistling noise.

Wax blockage
Some people pro due a lot of wax which keeps blocking the hearing aid

Difficult to fit properly
Some people have unusual shaped ears or very small or very large ear holes which can make it difficult to keep a hearing aid on or to get a hearing aid mould to fit.

Occlusion Effect
Some people have a particular sort of hearing loss which means that when they wear a hearing aid it echoes in their ear and sounds as if their head is in a bucket.

Distortion
Some hearing aids cause distortion of the sound especially the more powerful they have to be.

Discomfort
Some people have quite sensitive ears and find wearing a hearing aid very uncomfortable.

Not Powerful Enough
Some people’s hearing loss is so bad that hearing aids are just not powerful enough to give sufficient benefit.

Sometimes these problems can be sorted out by the hearing aid dispenser or audiologist.

Sometimes they can not.

IF YOU CAN’T GET ON WITH YOUR HEARING AIDS THERE ARE MANY OTHER OPTIONS TO HELP HEARING LOSS WHICH MAY HELP YOU.
